Section 179
Not to be killed by serious excitement or passion of anger

(1) Notwithstanding anything contained in section 177 or 178, the person who causes death in the following circumstances shall be liable to imprisonment for a term which may extend to ten to fifteen years and shall be liable to a fine of one lakh rupees to one lakh fifty thousand rupees:-
(a) Where, by doing any act of immediate serious provocation, the offender loses the power of self-control and kills the person causing such provocation, but this section shall not apply in the following cases:-
(1) If a person becomes agitated while obeying the law, exercising the right of private defense, a public servant performing his or her official duties, or about to perform any act,
(2) If the offender himself has been provoked with the intention of causing any harm to someone and the death of someone has been caused by an act done by a person who was so provoked,
(b) when the right of private defense is exercised in good faith, the limits of such right are exceeded, and the death of the person against whom such right is exercised,
(c) In the case of immediate death due to anger arising from a sudden quarrel, but the offender must not have obtained an unfair advantage or acted in a cruel or unnatural manner while acting under this section.
(2) Notwithstanding anything written in clauses (b) and (c) of sub-section (1), the provisions written in those clauses shall not be applicable in case of death by taking EV or thinking about it.
